Legends: The Art of Walter Barnett

Walter Barnett set up his Sydney studios in 1885 where he became renowned for his portraits of contemporary theatre stars, as well as visiting celebrities such as Sarah Bernhardt, Robert Louis Stevenson and Mark Twain. He later set up shop in London where his friendship with fellow Australian artists Tom Roberts and Arthur Streeton and the French sculptor Auguste Rodin were crucial to his success.
